Iced Ube Matcha Latte 🟣
by maria
Ube is my new Summer '24 obsession. Not only does it have an amazing deep purple color 💜, but also tastes great.
Ube is a purple yam originally from the Philippines, and if you haven't tried yet, what are you wating for?
This drink is best enjoyed playing Niñas De La Selva on repeat:
Ingredients
┃ yield — 1
- 1 tbsp ube spread (optional)
- 2 tbsp mascarpone (optional)
- 2 tbsp whipping cream
- ¼ tsp ube aroma and coloring (ubeness)
- 200 ml milk- of your choice or coconut water
- 4 g matcha powder
- 1 tsp brown sugar or maple syrup
- ice
Directions
┃ ◕ — 5 mins
- Mix in the ube yam and flavoring with 2 tbsp of cream, milk and mascarpone (if using), mix until it has a crea y consistency. Use an electric whisk for ease.
- Add an ice cube and 200 ml the milk or coconut water
- Mix the matcha powder and brown sugar with 2 tbsp of boiling water and use a matcha whisk to whisk for about 30 seconds, until frothy.
- Gently pour matcha on top. For a layered look, aim your matcha to hit an ice cube instead of directly into the liquid. Add the cream from step 1 on top.
- Mix your latte before drinking and enjoy!
Ube flavouring can be hard to find but is essential if you want the deep purple color. In any case, the drink will be delicious.
After a few failed trips to different Asian stores, I was finally able to find ubeness at Don Xuan Center in Berlin.
