Iced Ube Matcha Latte 🟣

by maria

Ube is my new Summer '24 obsession. Not only does it have an amazing deep purple color 💜, but also tastes great.

Ube is a purple yam originally from the Philippines, and if you haven't tried yet, what are you wating for?

This drink is best enjoyed playing Niñas De La Selva on repeat:

Ingredients

┃ yield — 1
  • 2 tbsp ube spread
  • ¼ tsp ube aroma
  • 200 ml milk- cow or coconut
  • ½ tsp matcha powder
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ice

Directions

┃ ◕ — 5 mins
  1. Mix in the ube yam and flavoring with 2 tbsp of milk, mix until it has a runny consistency.
  2. Add an ice cube and 200 ml of the milk of your choice
  3. Mix the matcha powder and brown sugar with 2 tbsp of boiling water and use a matcha whisk to whisk for about 30 seconds, until frothy.
  4. Gently pour matcha on top. For a layered look, aim your matcha to hit an ice cube instead of directly into the liquid.
  5. Mix your latte before drinking and enjoy!

Ube flavouring can be hard to find but is essential if you want the deep purple color. In any case, the drink will be delicious.

After a few failed trips to different Asian stores, I was finally able to find ubeness at Don Xuan Center in Berlin.
